The Story

By the evening of Lakshmi puja the pooja table should look like somewhere, not just a corner of the room. Hang ten of these side by side and you have a whole lit backdrop: twisted red and gold cord, gold rosettes, green leaves and warm bulbs running the full six feet. Swag one across the front door instead, or coil one in a glass lantern. No plug to find, and it packs away for next year.

What's Included:

  • 1 Festive Fairy Light, 72 inches long
  • Gold pleated rosettes, green leaves and a silver star chain on a twisted red and gold cord
  • Warm white LED bulbs set along a fine copper wire
  • Runs on 2 AA batteries, which are not included and easy to find

How many do I need?

  • 10 hung side by side for a full backdrop behind the puja table, as in the photos
  • 5 for a narrower alcove or a half width backdrop
  • 3 to frame the front door, one across the top and one down each side
  • 2 for the mandir shelf, one swagged above and one along the front
  • 1 on its own for the pooja thali, the dining table or a glass lantern
  • The rosettes do not light up. The small bulbs along the wire give the light.

Where to use it

  • Hung in a row from a rod or frame as a lit backdrop behind the pooja table
  • Swagged over the mandir doorway with the ends falling down each side
  • Across the front door frame, with strands falling down both sides
  • Coiled in a circle around a brass diya on the pooja thali
  • Down the middle of the dining table, around a handi or a bowl
  • Coiled inside a glass lantern or a wide bowl on a side table

Care

  • Take the batteries out after Diwali and coil it loosely to store
  • No flame, no heat and no wire trailing to a socket

Ways to style it

Questions, answered

Ten to twelve hung side by side gives the full backdrop in the photos. Six covers a narrower alcove. Three frames the front door, and one on its own runs along the mandir shelf.
Loop them over a curtain rod, a clothes rail or a light frame set behind the table. They are light enough that nothing needs drilling, and each one has its own battery box so there is no wiring between them.
Yes. A single strand coils neatly around a brass diya on the thali, runs down the middle of a dining table, or sits inside a glass lantern on a side table.
No. The small bulbs along the copper wire give the light while the gold rosettes, leaves and star chain sit between them.
No. Each one runs on 2 AA batteries which are not included and easy to find. If you are buying ten for a backdrop, budget twenty batteries.
72 inches, which is six feet. That reaches the floor from a standard table height rod, or runs the length of a dining table.
Yes. It stays cool with no flame, no smoke and no wax, so it is safe around children and pets.
Yes. Take the batteries out after Diwali and coil each one loosely so the wire does not kink.
