Nine nights of Navratri, then five days of Diwali. The house is lit every evening for the better part of a month, and most of it happens where a plug socket is nowhere near. Everything here is flameless and battery run, so it goes on the balcony railing, along the rangoli and around the pooja thali without a wire in sight. Nothing drips, nothing blows out, and the same boxes come down from the loft next year.
