The Story

The front door is the first thing anyone sees, and at Diwali it deserves more than a bare frame. This toran runs six feet of gold sequin band with marigolds in yellow, deep red and cream gathered at either end, green leaves behind them and a small brass bell that sounds when the door moves. Lay it over the top of the door and let each end fall. Pack it away after the festival and it comes out the same next year.

What's Included:

  • 1 Vani Door Toran, 72 inches end to end
  • Marigold style flowers in yellow, deep red and cream, with gold pleated discs and green leaves
  • A gold sequin band through the middle and a brass bell at each end
  • Ready to hang, nothing to assemble

Details

  • Length: 72 inches end to end
  • Flowers: Artificial silk, gathered at both ends of the band
  • Band: Gold sequin fabric, soft enough to fold over a door
  • Fits: Free size, works on doors of any width
  • Decorated on both sides, so it looks the same whichever way the door swings

Where to use it

  • Over the top of the front door, with a flowered end falling down each side
  • Across the pooja room doorway or above the mandir
  • Over a gate or a balcony railing for a festival
  • Along the back of a sofa or across a console for an evening at home
  • Down the length of the dining table as a runner

Care

  • Wipe the flowers with a damp cloth and let them dry
  • Store it flat or loosely rolled in a dry place between festivals
  • Nothing sheds, nothing browns and there is nothing to throw away afterwards

Questions, answered

Lay it over the top of the door so the sequin band sits on the frame and a flowered end falls down each side. No hooks or nails needed, though a bit of tape at the top holds it steady on a windy balcony.
72 inches end to end, which is six feet. The flowers sit at both ends with the gold band running between them.
One covers a standard single door. For a double door, or to dress a gate and the pooja room together, take two.
Yes. It is decorated on both sides, so it reads the same whichever way the door swings.
No, they are artificial silk. That is the point. Nothing wilts, nothing sheds and the same toran comes out every festival looking the way it did on day one.
Yes, on a gate, a balcony or a verandah as in the photos. Bring it in during heavy rain so the sequin band does not sit wet.
Wipe the flowers with a damp cloth, let them dry, then keep it flat or loosely rolled somewhere dry.
