It is a battery operated LED candle with a flickering flame, so there is no real fire. It is safe to keep around children and pets, with no smoke or wax.
No, the batteries are not included. It runs on 3 AAA batteries, which are easy to find, and you can replace them through the tab at the bottom whenever needed.
The candle stands about 11.5 inches tall along with its stand, so it makes a lovely statement on an entrance table, dining table or pooja area.
There is almost no upkeep. Just remove the battery when you are not using it for a while and wipe the candle clean if it gathers dust.
